WOMEN EMPOWERMENT CELL

Creation of the Cell

The institution has established a Women Empowerment Cell to create awareness on women’s right and protection of women faculty and students and to make the college campus a safe place for them. With an aim of creating awareness of their rights and duties the cell organizes and participates in seminars, workshops and also takes up women’s issues and problems. It also provided a platform for women to share their experiences and views regarding their status in the society and to suggest ways to develop and empower themselves.

Objectives

  • To promote a culture of respect and empathy for female gender
  • To generate awareness on guidelines of Supreme Court with respect to sexual harassment
  • To help women to get financial support by identifying the source and inculcate entrepreneurial attitude among young girls so that they can be employers rather than being employees.
  • To educate women on the importance of good health and nutrition
  • To motivate the women and girls towards self-protection and raise voice against all kinds of discrimination
  • To work in coordination with SHE team for safety of women

Selection procedures

The faculty members and students give their choice for acting as coordinators in the Women Empowerment Cell. Based on the choice given by the faculty and students, the College Academic Committee in consultation with Head of the Department selects the coordinators

Tenure

The tenure of the selected coordinator is for one academic year.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Follow the mandatory guidelines and directions of the Osmania University, Hyderabad, regarding the security arrangement for the safety of girl students and women staff of the institution
  • Plan, organize and conduct programmes concerning women’s welfare
  • Organized health awareness programme
  • Organized awareness lectures/Workshops for women on different aspects of gender amity
  • To identify possible entrepreneurial opportunities for girl students and sources of financing
